Position Overview


The Concrete Crew Plant Maintenance person will repair, maintain and install equipment and building operations including aggregate pit and other miscellaneous equipment. This employee will troubleshoot and determine appropriate repairs, replacing defective parts as needed.



Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Perform plant maintenance, repair, ad installation operations, and special maintenance projects on all facility equipment as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot and determine appropriate repairs, replacing defective parts as needed.
  • Maintain machinery and mechanical equipment in use at the plant.
  • Completion of the necessary paperwork that is required as well as communicating any maintenance that needs completed to management.
  • Safely welds together metal components of products with welding equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This includes all equipment as well as the facility.
  • Ensures that equipment and facilities are following CRH, MSHA/OSHA, and EPA safety practices and regulations.
  • Works with Operations and Plant Managers to schedule and perform annual plant and equipment certifications.
  • Works with Plant Managers to establish timing of scheduled production plant maintenance according to factors such as production schedules, personnel for assistance, and availability of parts and equipment required for the repair.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Associates in Electrical/Mechanical Technology, Project Management or similar preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience with plant maintenance, and experience in the building materials/construction industry preferred.


Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license. Commercial driver's license is a plus.
  • DOT Medical Certificate required for class of maintenance vehicles driven.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee and Safety Policy Manuals/Handbooks.
  • Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be able to attain Crane Operator, Boom Lift, Scissor Lift, Loader, and Forklift Certifications.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Must be proficient in the use of a computer and ability to learn and utilize usage of industry programs.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems when confronted with inoperable equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using industrial tools to complete assigned tasks effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals, installation and technical specifications, as well as carry out written or verbal instructions.
  • Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, and other conditions that may affect daily responsibilities. Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to walk, sit, climb, push/pull and use hands to signal and handle equipment.
  • Regularly required to stand, crawl, kneel, bend/stoop, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.
  • Frequently lift and/or move 5-15 lbs. regularly lift and/or move 20-30 lbs.,
  • Occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Frequently required to walk, sit, climb, push/pull stoop/kneel, crouch and use hands to signal and handle equipment up 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to stand, crawl, kneel, push/pull, carry and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.



Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. A variety of noise levels, adverse weather conditions, and complex job sites are to be expected daily. Proper clothing, PPE (personal protective equipment), and safety precautions should be taken to ensure your safety, and the safety of others in all conditions.
