Position Overview


The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for coordinating the training and development of the organization's employees. The position assesses company-wide development needs and will create a training framework that provides suitable training solutions across multiple functions to cater to all employee needs. Training curriculum will be developed for initial and ongoing development needs.



Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Conduct annual training and development needs assessment, with an increased focus on frontline managers and one level below and above.
  • Create training/development framework across multiple functions and departments to meet learning needs at all levels.
  • Identifies best training method (instructor-led, eLearning, simulation, coaching, etc.) to ensure effectiveness and frequently audits programs for training effectiveness.
  • Training programs included, but not limited to, new hire orientation, onboarding, technical skills development, soft skills development, company policies, product training, quality training, human performance training, safety training, technology training, frontline leadership training, teambuilding, etc.
  • Create innovative, engaging, and effective instructional materials with a focus on helping people adopt behavior standards and embrace new processes to complete their daily tasks/responsibilities.
  • Contact and utilize corporate resources and outside vendors and resources as needed based on gaps.
  • Maintain a database of all training materials.
  • Instruct employee training, as needed.
  • Maintains professional demeanor in dealing with critical/confidential information; restricts discussion/knowledge of activity to a "need to know" basis.
  • Complete project work as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration or other related field preferred.
  • Five or more years' experience of related work experience in training and development, facilitation/coaching, project management and/or consulting.
  • Familiar with both traditional and modern job training methods, trends, and techniques.
  • Strong experience working with computers and related office software is required.
  • Demonstrated skills in group process facilitation, change management, training, and project management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with proficiency in writing, editing, proofreading, and formatting of user-friendly, customer-ready materials.
  • Strong presentation skills with experience in providing instructor-led trainings.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined, with capacity to work on multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and within time constraints.
  • Skilled in teaching improvement concepts and principles to diverse audiences from senior management to frontline staff.
  • Exposure to cross-cultural audiences, and global and cultural awareness.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Experience in a construction environment preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.


Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access
  • Strong work ethic and high standards for safety in the workplace.
  • High level of responsiveness.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving and receiving feedback.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

  • Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, talk and hear.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.



Work Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Tempo is fast paced with deadlines.
  • The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be moderate but when in the field it could be very loud and may require protective equipment.
