Job Description:


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in San Antonio, TX that is seeking a Data Center Technician.

Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Installation and Maintenance:


  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment, storage devices, and other data center hardware

  • Perform hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed

  • Manage cabling, including patch panel and structured cabling systems, ensuring neat and organized installations

System Monitoring and Support:

  • Monitor system performance, network connectivity, and environmental conditions using monitoring tools

  • Respond to alerts and incidents, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime

  • Perform routine inspections of equipment and systems to ensure operational efficiency

Infrastructure Management:

  • Maintain and optimize power, cooling, and environmental systems to support hardware and equipment

  • Coordinate with facilities teams for the upkeep of HVAC, UPS, and other critical infrastructure

  • Conduct regular testing of backup power systems and disaster recovery protocols

Documentation and Inventory:

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, installations, and maintenance activities

  • Create and update documentation, including diagrams, standard operating procedures, and incident reports

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with network engineers, systems administrators, and external vendors to support ongoing operations

  • Assist in the planning and execution of data center migrations, upgrades, and expansions

  • Provide remote hands-on support for customers or internal teams as required

Compliance and Security:

  • Adhere to data center security protocols, including access control and monitoring

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements

  • Participate in regular audits and risk assessments







REQUIREMENTS:



  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, or similar certifications are an advantage

  • 2-5 years of experience in a data center or IT support environment

  • Hands-on experience with hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance

  • Familiarity with server hardware, networking equipment, and storage systems

  • Understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS) and infrastructure (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls)

  • Knowledge of data center management tools and environmental monitoring systems

  • Basic proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

  • Ability to lift and install equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels






The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.



We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
