Operational Support
Technical implementation:
Serve as lead and technical steward for Enrollment Management production systems, both custom and vended.
Implement new processes and systems to meet EM business needs in the areas of data, reporting and systems integration.
Oversee regularly scheduled ETLs and other automated tasks.
Troubleshoot and fix problems as they arise.
Business/Operational analysis:
Collaborate with Enrollment Management leadership to define and plan processes and systems to meet EM business needs in the areas of data, reporting and systems integration.
Serve as lead and liaison between the functional and technical users to make sure existing systems meet Enrollment Management's business needs. This includes the first-year application platforms (myIllini and the Common Application) as well as the internal application processing application (iAdmit) and the CRM (Slate).
Lead and participate in multiple Enrollment Management system implementation and testing efforts.
Create and maintain documentation and training materials.
Supervise one to three data analysts on the Data Analysis and Systems Services team.
(Associate level) Lead and participate in multiple Enrollment Management system implementation and testing efforts and fill in for the Director when absent.
(Associate level) Provide directional oversight on the management of projects and coordination with all necessary internal and external groups, as needed.
Data Management and Reporting
Business/Operational analysis:
Collaborate with Enrollment Management leadership to:
Develop, maintain, schedule and distribute strategic and operational reports of prospect, applicant, and student data for Enrollment Management, colleges and departments, and other external campus entities.
Provide analytic reporting and data modeling solutions to predict who will apply, be admitted, enroll, retain, and graduate based on multiple data elements, including financial aid.
Help create and continually improve reporting guidelines and definitions for Enrollment Management.
Technical implementation:
Lead Enrollment Management report development efforts.
Lead the oversight of the regularly scheduled and automated report creation and delivery.
Provide end-user support for data retrieval and reporting.
Required Qualifications -
(Assistant Level)
Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
Four (4) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience in data systems management.
Demonstrated experience managing data systems and/or reporting at an administrative level.
Demonstrated experience working with advanced level SQL or other advanced data manipulation tools.
(Associate level)
Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
Five years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience in data systems management.
Demonstrated experience managing data systems and/or reporting at an administrative level.
Demonstrated experience working with advanced level SQL or other advanced data manipulation tools.
Preferred Qualifications -
Demonstrated 1 year experience managing data systems at administrative level.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Science, Data Systems, IT Management or an IT related field.
Five (5) years of experience working with Admissions and/or Student systems.
Programming/scripting experience (e.g. .NET, C#, Javascript, HTML, or Powershell, etc.).
Experience working with and providing high-quality service to a diverse group of constituents.
Experience with Python, R, MS Azure/Synapse, or other relevant data tools and methods.
Experience with MS Power BI, Tableau or other relevant data visualization tools and methods.
Experience with University of Illinois data systems - EDW, Banner.
(Associate level) Eight years of experience working with Admissions and/or Student systems.
(Associate level) Advanced level experience with Python, R, MS Azure/Synapse, or other relevant data tools and methods.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
Ability to complete small projects independently and work as part of a team on larger projects.
Excellent attention to details.
Ability to multi-task.
Strong written and oral communication skills and customer service presence.
Ability to define and lead a project with a small team of people.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5010 - Business/Administrative Associate position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The budgeted salary for the position is $70-90k at the Assistant Director level and $90-108k at the Associate Director level. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position. Hybrid work options may be available for this position, with the ability to be on-site at the Urbana-Champaign campus as needed.
