Job Description:

The System Analyst (SA) plays a key role in bridging business needs and technical solutions within the IT environment. The SA is responsible for understanding the needs of the business inside of the services and solutions provided within their domain. Day-to-day the SA will coordinate across the engineering team and the business partners the activities supporting that domain.

This individual must be strongly proficient in navigating an assigned data environment and the analysis of the data, objects, code, and upstream data and processes that comprise that environment. The SA should have a thorough understanding of the business functional concepts represented in the data and an appreciation of how the data products and services support those business functions. In concert with the IT Product Delivery Manager the SA will work closely with key business stakeholders as well as Architecture, Engineering, as well as other IT organizations that factor into the domain's data ecosystem.

The System Analyst should be able to establish a firm grasp of the complexities governing the management of the data ecosystem. They should be able to foresee how developments and solutions within that ecosystem will affect business functions, the services that support them, and downstream dependent processes on a go-forward basis. The SA should be able contribute thoughts, ideas, and suggestions to the planning of tactical paths to satisfy solution requirements or issue resolutions. In addition, the SA will be accountable for capturing all information pertaining to tactical execution and be the point of clear communication in that execution to the IT Product Delivery Manager and key business stakeholders. All of these duties should be performed with a keen focus on quality and with demonstrated self-management.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analytics, engineering teams, and data domain teams, to drive business outcomes.

  • Provide oversight and guidance on system design, testing, and implementation.

  • Facilitate communication between IT and business teams to ensure alignment.

  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements and process improvements.

  • Support agile methodologies in project development and execution phases.

  • Understand business and technical solutions being delivered by the team.

  • In collaboration with the engineering team, capture the architecture associated with solutions being delivered.

  • Identify the data quality rules that should be associated with data sets and processes managed within the domain and work with engineering to implement automated validations

  • Communicate with business product ownership and product managers to answer questions on behalf of the technology teams to determine system requirements

  • Lead the team through the refinement of user stories, ensuring that the business value remains the focus and enabling the team to succeed through the management of actionable stories, helping to remove or illuminate any blockers to the Product Manager as they arise.

  • Assist with facilitating and conducting sprint reviews and Agile demo meetings for product stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of system test plans to ensure an accurate and effective data product.

Specific Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a technology or data area of study or 5-10 years in IT roles that demonstrate competencies as outlined above.

  • Excellent communication abilities and habits with the ability to convey complex technology concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proven experience in systems analysis and design within a complex IT environment.

  • Healthcare experience in data domains, data bases, and data modeling.

  • Experience working as an Agile Product Owner

  • Knowledge of data concepts across marketing, sales, and enrollment

  • Knowledge and skills in Teradata, SQL, Tableau, Databricks, AWS, Github, Oracle, TOAD, Dynatrace, ETL, and Python

  • Experience with Excel, SharePoint, XML and Delimited Files

  • Experience with backlog management tools like Jira

  • Experience managing a backlog of items for data engineering and analytics teams.

  • Strong understanding of data analytics, system integrations, and Agile methodologies

  • Ability to lead and work with a team in a collaborative environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong documentation skills.

  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timeline.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple initiatives.

  • Ability to work and meet obligations independently
