In this exciting role as an Automation Vision Engineer at the Nathan Lane production site your role is crucial in developing, deploying and maintaining manufacturing equipment systems for manufacturing of our medical devices. Your work will contribute to improving the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of manufacturing processes at Medtronic's Nathan Lane facility manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Serve as Tier 2 support for site Vision equipment

  • Help develop technology roadmap for site value streams in relation to vision

  • Design and optimize image acquisition manufacturing equipment systems, including camera selection, optic lens selection, lighting, and calibration techniques.

  • Leverage commercial machine vision technologies such as Cognex, Keyence, Halcon, LMI and/or GigE components, where appropriate.

  • Collaborate with internal and external resources to integrate machine vision manufacturing equipment systems into manufacturing processes, ensuring seamless operation and compatibility.

  • Develop and implement machine vision algorithms and systems for product quality, including image processing, object detection, recognition, and tracking.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, performance evaluations, including validation and verification (FAT/SAT) activities of machine vision manufacturing equipment systems.

  • Collaborate with regulatory and quality teams to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations governing medical devices.

  • Document and maintain comprehensive design specifications, test protocols, and reports.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant technical experience, or advanced degree with 5 years of technical experience

Nice to Have


  • At least 5-7 years Vision and Automation manufacturing equipment system design experience.

  • Expertise with 2D and 3D hardware components commonly used in machine vision equipment systems, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and frame grabbers.

  • Solid understanding of machine vision principles and image processing techniques

  • Experience in developing and implementing machine vision systems, preferably in the medical device industry.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical solutions.

  • Experience with site and equipment support

  • Comparing technologies and vendors for the right solution

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$140,800 - $211,200

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
