SUMMARY
The Surgical Aide works under the direction of the Surgical Services Leader and/or Supervisor/Charge Nurse to assist the peri-operative team. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
Completes daily morning room prep and wipe down.Strips linen and garbage bags from room, cleans room and equipment (including anesthesia work area, cables, trash), replaces canisters, linen bags, garbage bags, return room to primary set-up. These activities are completed between cases and at the end of the day.Restocks OR rooms and other Surgical Services areas including supplies and linens.Washes and then processes scopes in the evo-tech.Fills designated warmers with solution and linen.Checks and restocks scrub sink area masks, brushes, sanitizer and required supplies.Cleans and returns equipment and positioning supplies to their designated area.Cleans and organizes the OR lounge daily.Puts scrub uniforms away daily.Keeps halls and storage areas neat and clear.Assists and/or transports patients, beds, patient belongings to and from the OR and patient care areas as needed.Helps transfer patient to and from surgery/procedure table.Obtains extra supplies and equipment as needed/requested by OR team members.Transports specimens to lab.Assists in Sterile Processing as needed.Assists in SDS as needed.Assists in PACU as needed.Assists with other assigned duties and projects as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports directly to the Surgical Services Leader.

While performing the duties of this job, employees the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. REQUIRED EDUCATION
High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.)
COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Current BLS/CPR certification.
