The Director GP Academy is responsible for establishing and leading the Gregory Poole (GP) Academy, a corporate training organization responsible for equipment and systems technical training. The role develops and implements training programs for heavy equipment, material handling, and electric power generation service technicians, operators and other staff. The Director ensures GP Academy meets the highest standards of training excellence and aligns with Gregory Poole Equipment Company strategic goals.

The Director ensures GP Academy meets the highest standards of training excellence and aligns with Gregory Poole Equipment Company strategic goals.\n \nESSENTIAL DUTIES:\n \nProgram Curriculum Design, Development & Delivery:\n \n\nManage the design, development and implementation of comprehensive industry product training programs for various levels of service technicians, equipment operator roles, sales and operation teams.\nInclude content to address equipment capabilities, new technology, equipment systems, safety, and brand competitive advantages.\nDetermine the appropriate delivery modality for each program (e.g. Instructor-led classroom, instructor-led virtual, computer-based, etc) that contribute to an engaging class.\nEnsure learning programs adhere to training industry and manufacturer standards.\nLead the development and production of class materials and training aids that support the overall learning objectives and create an interactive learning environment.\nShare in managing the corporate learning management system (LMS).\nSchedule classrooms and arrange needed room configuration.\nCoordinate equipment availability needed for classes.\nPromote a positive learning environment that upholds the Gregory Poole Equipment Company core values.\n\n \nTraining Needs Assessments and Course & Instructor Evaluation: \n \n\nCollaborate with management, departments and staff to conduct divisional learning needs assessments. \nDevelop and communicate the annual technical training plan for all divisions.\nUtilize various feedback tools to evaluate the training programs' effectiveness.\nEvaluate student progress and skill development.\nAudit and assess instructor skills and impact on students and identify instructor development opportunities.\n\n \nTeam Management:\n \n\nLead and manage the GP Academy team, to include hiring, developing, evaluating and managing performance.\nProvide mentorship and coaching to instructors and support staff.\nCreate a system to ensure the training team's skills and knowledge remain current and relevant through original equipment manufacturers (OEM) updates, warranty data, and technician feedback. \nSupport operation teams for mentoring and technician programs.\nDevelop and manage the GP Academy budget ,including capital requirements, and ensure financial objectives are met.\nWork in coordination with the team to achieve continuous improvement goals and objectives.\n\n \nProgram Management:\n \n\nGovern the internal and external technician apprentice programs, ensuring the learning objectives and curriculum are consistently updated and achieved.\nResponsible for managing relationships with partner technical schools and serving as point of contact for those programs (e.g. Wake Tech Community College, Florance-Darlington Technical School).\nGovern the Technician Career Guide (TCG) program, enable a training team member to facilitate the TCG Advisory group to ensure all process and compensation issues are addressed. \nEnsure compliance with all relevant accreditation and certification requirements.\nMaintain relationships with OEM, industry partners, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.\nMaintain accreditation in Caterpillar Tech Career Development Program Assessment (TCDP-A).\n\n \n Required Skills/Abilities: \n \n\nExperience building a corporate training organization.\nExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong presentation skills.\nAbility to communicate effectively with leadership and other stakeholders.\nExperience with multimedia training platforms and methods.\nAbility to design and implement effective training and development programs.\nMust be able to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.\n\n\nAbility to function well in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.\n\n\nAbility to prioritize tasks and delegate as appropriate.\nWillingness to travel frequently and stay overnight as required.\nProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.\n\n \nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:\n \nEducation and Experience:\n\nA bachelor's degree in Education, Vocational Education, Human Resource Development, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field.\nTen years or more experience in corporate training and development leadership role, with a focus on technical training.\nDemonstrated experience in managing profit and loss (P&L) for a department or organization.\nExtensive knowledge of technician training, particularly in diesel, heavy equipment, material handling, and electric power generation preferred.\nProven leadership and management experience.\n\nCognitive Requirements:\n\nAbility to read and interpret documents, write reports and correspondence, speak before groups, perform mathematical calculations, and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. \n\n \nPhysical Requirements:\n\nRegularly required to sit, talk, or listen; frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
