The Senior Security Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying innovative programming and technical solutions in the areas of data analytics, data discovery, and big data processing. This role involves performing complex data analytics programming assignments that require expertise in multiple technologies and programming languages. The Senior Security Engineer will also mentor team members, own projects, and contribute to architectural decisions while ensuring that best practices are followed throughout development processes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Ownership of the development and deployment of data analytics and processing solutions.
Contribute to the architecture and design of complex technical systems and products.
Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, development, and testing.
Mentor junior engineers on best practices.
Drive continuous improvements in development processes, coding standards, and team workflows.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies across the team and department.
Support project and product managers to prioritize tasks in line with changing business needs.
Assess the quality of product deliverables across teams and departments, ensuring high standards of code quality and functionality.
Help lead daily administrative tasks (e.g., standups, sprint planning, etc.) and coordinate team efforts with other teams and departments.
Support the negotiation of resource allocations by assisting in balancing the needs of other teams with your team's commitments and capacity.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Expertise in data analytics, data processing, and big data technologies.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Go and Python.
Experience with databases and multiple technology stacks, including Kubernetes (k8s), Kafka, etc.
Proficient in using industry-standard tools (e.g., Atlassian Stack, Git, Jira).
Strong understanding of internet protocols and web technologies.
Experience with the creation and integration of APIs.
Solid knowledge of security best practices and secure coding techniques.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years focused on cyber security threats or data analytics.
Experience with cloud platforms and containerization (e.g., AWS, Azure, Docker) is preferred.
Experience with agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Jira) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
