Job Description:

OU Health Services is the ambulatory care facility on the Norman campus providing primary care services to students, faculty, staff, and dependents. We provide in-house medical laboratory and x-ray services, have a physical therapy department, and a full-service pharmacy.

POSITION INFORMATION: Responsible for providing care, prevention, and treatment/rehabilitation of injuries.



  • Evaluates patient response to treatment and makes recommendations on changes in treatment plan as required.

  • Maintains records concerning treatment/interventions provided, including both subjective and objective data and maintains adequate, up-to-date progress notes on each patient treated, assuring appropriate changes are made and recording treatment.

  • Plans, conducts, and evaluates physical therapy treatment/intervention programs and activities.

  • Interprets physical therapy referrals and determines appropriate evaluation procedures.

  • Makes recommendations concerning standardized treatment or interventions based on medical indications and interprets results of tests and objective findings.

  • Proposes treatment/intervention plan in conjunction with other team members, including short and long-term goals, frequency, and duration.

  • Completes patient assessments related to various physical skills and functional abilities, including neuromuscular, coordination, strength, balance, ambulation, self-care and education, and provides treatment and interventions according to the results of the evaluation.

  • Assists physical therapy department manager in the training and supervision of support staff, fitting/application of bracing and supplies, and other duties as assigned for efficient daily operation of the clinic. 

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND: 




  • 18 months of experience in physical therapy field




Skills:



  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff

  • Basic computer skills

  • Detailed oriented for accuracy of data and information

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Strong initiative to solve problems


Certifications:



  • Must be registered as a physical therapist with the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision or eligible for registration and holding a temporary permit to practice.



Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • May lift, carry or move up to 50 pounds. May need to climb, crouch, crawl or bend to check equipment.

  • May have regular exposure to disagreeable conditions including odors and hazardous chemicals.
