The Corporate Communications department at Publix spearheads internal communications and press releases, publishes monthly newsletters and annual benefits notices, handles department-specific communications, and manages digital content for Publix's internally facing platforms.

Within the department, the Corporate Communications Copy Editor is responsible for copy editing and proofing internal and external communications for Associated Press Style and Publix style, grammar and spelling, tone, accuracy and plagiarism. This position will review copy and recommend what should be reviewed by legal as well as identify any copyright/libel/legal issues for all communications in print, online, digital and email.

In Publix's corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix's corporate offices offer work from home up to two days a week once eligibility is met. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.


  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, English or an equivalent field, or equivalent professional experience

  • at least five years of experience copy editing/proofreading in journalism, public relations, marketing or advertising fields

  • at least five years of experience using Associated Press Style

  • at least three years of experience copy editing/proofreading in a mid- to large-sized company

  • at least three years of experience writing for SEO

  • at least three years experience writing for social media

  • at least one year of experience writing speeches

  • intermediate knowledge of Microsoft programs like Word and various web browsers/ internet functionality

  • basic knowledge of Microsoft programs like Outlook and Excel

  • knowledge of Associated Press Style

  • knowledge of proper grammar and spelling

  • knowledge of libel/copy right/plagiarism/ trademark laws

  • knowledge of writing for SEO

  • Master’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, English or an equivalent field, or equivalent professional experience

  • ten or more years of experience copy editing/proofreading in journalism, public relations, marketing or advertising fields

  • ten or more years of experience using Associated Press Style

  • five or more years of experience copy editing/proofreading in a mid- to large-sized company

  • five or more years of experience writing for SEO

  • three or more years of experience writing for social media

  • three or more years of experience writing speeches

  • Accredited in Public Relations (APR), Accredited in Business Communication (ABC), or Certified Public relations Professional Counselor (CPRC)

  • basic knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint

  • knowledge of Publix culture, mission, vision and Publix writing style

  • knowledge of Publix structure, with regards to job classifications, titles, divisions, support areas and reporting structure

  • knowledge of Publix’s policies on safety, dress code and appearance standards, etc.

  • knowledge of basic Publix financial information (background, current status and reporting timetable)

  • able to analyze trends using research
