The Turf and Irrigation Specialist is passionate about the outdoors and delivering the highest quality Sierra Nevada experience by supporting all functions of the Natural Resources department. The Turf and Irrigation Specialist reports to the Natural Resources Manager and focuses on responsibly maintaining the irrigation system and all turf areas.

What You Will Do



  • Execute turf management plan to include applications of soil amendments, fertilizers and pesticides, mowing, monitoring and treating for pests and diseases and other activities involved in general turf care

  • Operate and maintain irrigation system including troubleshooting and diagnosis, programming, repair/replace communication devices, sprinkler heads, valves, and lines

  • Daily morning upkeep of gardens, turf, and hardscapes in guest-facing areas to include leaf blowing, hand weeding, litter pick up, and general landscaping duties to maintain a high-quality guest experience

  • Implement snow/ice removal procedures for sidewalks and roads on property; this may require long hours on late shifts

  • Perform housekeeping and sanitation tasks such as sweeping, cleaning, and organizing tools is the Natural Resources facility

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to essential equipment to include light mechanical work


Please Apply if You Have




  • Completion of two-year technical institute program in horticulture required or

  • Four years of progressive and varied experience in general landscape, public garden development and maintenance including the operation of various landscape heavy and light duty equipment required or

  • Equivalent combination of training and experience




  • Experience with the use of powered equipment such as mower, weedeaters, aerators, leaf blowers, and chainsaws required

  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems required

  • 2 years Progressive and varied experience in all aspects of grounds maintenance to include plant identification, seed and plant bed preparation, watering, fertilizing, applying pesticides and other on-going maintenance duties preferred




  • Significant knowledge of sound horticultural practices and turf management principles

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with coworkers in a team environment to meet objectives




  • Certified Plant Professional or Certified Turf Grass Professional preferred

  • Pesticide Applicator License upon hire required
