The Director of Perioperative Services manages the operations and activities of the Operating Rooms, Peri- anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Hospital Outpatient Surgery, and Central Sterile processing and Bozeman Surgery Center. This position is responsible for the overall management of the departments' daily operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives established by the organization. The Director assumes the role as a leader in planning, directing and managing the department and staff to assure quality service on a 24/7 basis. The Director is responsible for meeting , AORN, and ASPAN standards, complying with corporate policy and procedures, for managing supplies and equipment in the units, for promoting teamwork with physicians and all healthcare providers, for promoting internal and external customer satisfaction and for appropriate resource management. The Director shall utilize the principles of management to ensure the continual delivery of optimal care in Perioperative Service consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of Billings Clinic, adheres to the Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. The Director shall also actively participate in outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers and will maintain relationships that are equally respectful to all.



Essential Job Functions



•Develops and oversees Perioperative Services to ensure adherence to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business objectives. Interprets, supports, and models the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic. Responsible for the promotion of, and adherence to, the elements of Billings Clinic's Code of Conduct and corporate compliance program as it relates to Perioperative Services.
• In collaboration with Senior Leadership, physician leadership, other medical staff, and other health care providers, leads, develops, and revises programs which enhance Perioperative Services. Acts as a recognized area expert within Billings Clinic and to other health care providers.
• Leads the Perioperative leadership team in the overall marketing, program development, and service priorities that support a quality-focused environment and the financial objectives of the organization/business unit/department. Coordinates with Senior Leadership and physicians to assure continuity in pursuing business unit/system goals and synergy in implementing plans and problem resolution.
• Oversees Managers, Clinical Coordinators, educators and other direct reports with preparation of the budget, staffing, objectives, standards, and staff education programs.
• Practices process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of the service/care provided within Perioperative Services.. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance for perioperative services and ensures business unit and staff compliance.
• Develops, retains, recruits, and leads a talented management team committed to accomplishing the organizational/business unit goals, objectives and corporate compliance. Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that assure sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care/services. Adheres to administrative policy/procedures relating to human resource management.
• Demonstrates and encourages an ethic of open communication and teamwork throughout the organization. Builds an environment of shared commitment to Billings Clinic's goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes.
• Leads evaluation, selection, and integration of health care technology and information management systems within perioperative services that supports quality of care/financial needs and the efficient use of resources.
• Utilizes principles of management to ensure continual delivery of optimal care.
• Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
• Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance, including, but not limited to accreditation and requirements, AORN and ASPAN standards.
• Ability to maintain performance in stressful situations. Ability to set priorities when faced with conflicting alternatives and varying conditions. Ability to plan and conduct multiple activities within a specific time frame in order to ensure goal/deadline achievement.
• Maintains confidentiality of information per organizational and departmental policies. Demonstrates knowledge of policies in department communication, practice, and time keeping responsibilities such as payroll, leave of absence, time off and worker's compensation.
• Complete and approve annual operations and capital expense budgets, direct necessary analysis, and present proposed budgets to the governing body for final approval. Provide monthly analysis and reporting of revenue and expenses.
• Monitor, measure, and report on operational and marketing issues, opportunities, and new program development plans and achievements within agreed formats and timeframes.
• The Director of Perioperative Services will strive to Support the 5 components of the Magnet Model of: Transformational Leadership; Structural Empowerment; Exemplary Professional Practice; New Knowledge, Innovation and Improvements; Empirical Quality Outcomes.
• Ensure completion of business activities, including data collection system for staffing utilization and room utilization, along with preparation of periodic productivity reports and operational/marketing reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the organization.



Minimum Qualifications


Education

• 4 Year Bachelor's Degree in a related field



Experience

• 6 Leadership Experience
