Description of Work:

The Department of Supply Chain Management and Analytics (SCMA) in the College of Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice position. We seek outstanding candidates in all areas of supply chain management, operations management, and business analytics. This is a non-tenure leading position with a teaching load of three or four courses per semester in supply chain management and/or business analytics, including in-person undergraduate courses, as well as online MBA and/or MS courses. This will be an academic year (nine-month) appointment with an August 2025 start date.
This is a career-oriented, teaching-focused position. At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Assistant Professors of Practice are appointed to three-year terms, with performance reviews conducted annually, with the opportunity for future multi-year renewals and promotions in rank. Salary and benefits are competitive and consistent with similar positions at other Big Ten universities.
The successful candidate is expected to become involved in the department and college's teaching mission and to teach a variety of courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition, the candidate will be expected to participate, as appropriate, in the governance of the SCMA Department and College of Business, in academic program management, and in a variety of non-class activities such as student advising and curriculum development.



About the Department The Department of Supply Chain Management and Analytics consists of 13 tenured and tenure-track faculty, along with three professors of practice. The department is responsible for teaching the College of Business core courses in Operations and Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics/Information Analysis. The department offers two undergraduate majors, in supply chain management and business analytics. At the graduate level, the department teaches courses in the MBA program and offers certificates in supply chain management, business analytics, and supply chain analytics, as well MS degrees in Business Analytics and Supply Chain Management. The department also launched a Ph.D. specialization in Supply Chain Management and Analytics during the 2022-2023 academic year.

Minimum Required Qualifications:



  • A doctorate in supply chain management, operations management, business analytics, management information systems, or a related field (such as industrial engineering) or will have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. at the time of appointment; OR a master's degree, along with significant relevant practical experience in supply chain management, operations management, and/or business analytics.

  • Demonstrated potential to teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses in supply chain management, operations management, and/or business analytics.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Ability to teach a variety of required and elective courses in supply chain management and business analytics, at both the undergraduate and masters levels.

  • Potential to teach effectively in a variety of formats, such as in-person, online, and hybrid.
