Summary of Duties:

The Office of Accreditation, Assessment, Evaluation, and Curriculum Management (AAEC) develops and oversees the strategies to:

- Continuously monitor and actively report on the outcomes of student learning experiences with student assessment in the Pre-Clerkship years.

- Enable the delivery of a complex, integrated competency-based curriculum through the learning management system.

- Fulfill processes and functions related to maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.



This job post maybe used to fill multiple openings within the Office of Accreditation, Assessment, Evaluation and Curriculum Management (AAEC).




The role of the Assessment Data Analysts is to support functions for student assessment in Years 1 and 2 or Years 3 and 4 (dependent upon assigned workload). Using a continuous quality improvement approach, this position is responsible for utilizing data and data analysis techniques to report on performance of students and departments as well as identify needed faculty development, within the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine.




This position will support the College's mission to continuously improve the students' learning experience, as well as support all reporting requirements for accreditation and in partnership with the AAMC.

 


Duties and Responsibilities:

60% Data Analysis and Reporting


  • Generate data needed for the program and to support accreditation using data analysis and visualization software such as Power BI, SPSS, Excel, Qualtrics and others. 

  • Interpret and analyze data using statistical methods to inform program decision making and to monitor student progression towards end of year milestones. Develop, build, and maintain data reports and queries.

  • Develop and implement data analyses, data collection systems, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency, security and data quality in the Pre-Clerkship or Clerkship years as assigned.

  • Process confidential data and information according to academic and FERPA guidelines.

  • Develop and build learner dashboards that display learning trajectories and other information required to support student development in the program. 

  • Perform testing and validation of data sets.

  • Collaborate with Curriculum Management and Evaluation Units to create reports that present qualitative/quantitative data and present key findings.

  • Report findings and trends to provide initial recommendations based on analyses and visualizations. 

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to determine and address data and reporting needs. Share with internal team and other stakeholders.

20% Data Storage and Systems


  • Assist with strategic decisions on new or upgraded systems and features of the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Assist with building a data warehouse. Will complete primary data entry and will filter data to ensure it is clean, accurate, and complete. Escalate issues identified with data and reports to Lead Data Analyst.

  • Evaluate internal systems for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, maintaining protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data.

  • Provide technical expertise on data storage structures, data cleansing, data analyses and report writing.

  • Work with IT to troubleshoot reporting database environment and reports.

15% Data Operations Compliance and Support


  • Develop documentation and training materials for use of pre-clerkship or clerkship dashboards by students, faculty, and staff. Administer tutorials as needed.

  • Perform troubleshooting with report users (students, College of Medicine staff and clinical faculty). 

  • Communicate permission and accessibility needs for dashboards and reports to Lead Data Analyst. 

  • Manage professional, direct, and accurate messaging (in multiple forms) to students, faculty, and others regarding processes and protocols.

  • Support and participate in presentations during meetings that pertain to data reporting in the pre-clerkship or clerkship years. 

5% Other


  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 


Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree, including college-level course work in statistics and/or mathematics or one (1) year of work experience in statistics, analysis, or research OR equivalent education/experience.

 


Additional Requirements:


  • Ability to identify useful information in data sets and suggest conclusions that support decision making. 

  • Strong analytical capabilities including analysis and visualization.  

  • Skilled with Microsoft Excel and analytical tools.  

  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

 


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, information technology, or related field.  

  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets.  

  • Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA.  

  • Understanding of data gathering, inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling/diagramming techniques.

Monthly Salary:

Range 43, $3,370 - $4,398

Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 or applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
