Operations Project Specialist - Wealth Management

Salary Range: $62,800 - $83,700 annually

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave as well as generous paid time off. Total Rewards also include banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K plan with company match and may include the opportunity to participate in our Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Position Summary

The Operations Project Specialist - WM is a subject matter expert on critical business functions and responsible for providing service and support to the Bank's wealth management division. The Operations Project Specialist - WM will act as a liaison between the wealth management division and other areas within the Bank. The Operations Project Specialist - WM expertly communicates how a process works, the related controls and any other part of the process that would be beneficial to create efficiency improvements. The Operations Project Specialist - WM is the system expert and understands the related operational processes that support the day-to-day processing and is an expert on how resulting information is passed to or received from customers and other related business units throughout the Bank. The Operations Project Specialist - WM will drive process improvement and automation for the WM team.

Primary Accountabilities


  • Expert on operational processes and core systems related to WM operations including transaction processing, documentation, and data flow.
  • Recommend and implement process changes to improve services and systems.
  • Lead system workflow design and automation efforts.
  • Lead team projects and initiatives working with multiple areas of WM and the Bank to identify process breakdowns, enhancement opportunities and/or efficiency gains.
  • Maintain departmental training documents including, but not limited to, procedures and process maps.
  • Review and interpret complex documents pertaining to client's information and general knowledge and understanding of various fiduciary account types currently under administration.
  • Strong, interworking knowledge and understanding of different security types as well as how they trade, settle, and are treated for tax and performance reporting.
  • Performs account and security maintenance and transaction requests related to core/critical team functions, as needed.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance, preferred.
  • 5+ years relevant banking and/or trust operations/accounting experience
  • Advanced industry training and/or certifications such as CSOP, CTFA, CTOP, CFIRS, Scrum Master, or PMP, preferred.
  • Familiar with Agile framework.
