Job Description
As a Cloud Database Engineer III, you will be key member of the cloud engineering team responsible for the design, setup, maintenance and on-going health of relational and non-relational databases within the company. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with database management with MSSQL and MySQL databases hosted in both private and public (IaaS and PaaS) cloud environments. In this position, it is critical to have a passion for database engineering and a focus on growth and improvement as we continue to modernize our systems. We value onsite collaboration. This role requires onsite work at our headquarters in Monroe, WI.
You will be responsible for:
• Database management: Administering, documenting, monitoring, and maintaining databases and software to ensure performance, security, and high availability. Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery operations.
• Database design: Architecting scalable, reliable, and secure database solutions.
• Database troubleshooting: Monitor database activity, performance, and troubleshooting issues.
• Database optimization: Improving database performance through indexing, query optimization, and other best practices.
• Database automation: Automating infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform and Ansible. Create and maintain scripts for automated database tasks, monitoring, and reporting.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure database environments comply with security policies and industry regulations. Implement and enforce database security practices, including access controls and encryption.
• Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver database solutions.
Qualifications
What It Takes:
• Associate degree in Computer Science or related IT field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years proven experience in database administration and architecture, with a focus on database management and performance optimization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.
• Experience with Windows and Linux servers.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation purposes.
