The Cath Lab / EP Manager supervises all Cath Lab / EP Department operations to ensure that all procedures and cases are performed efficiently and appropriately in accordance with established policies and procedures. He/she is responsible for performing a wide variety of management responsibilities relative to scheduling, staff coverages, budget development and compliance, physician and patient satisfaction, strategic planning, marketing, performance improvement, clinical trials oversight, charge master and computerized inventory management activities. The Manager can perform job functions utilizing independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative, with ability to interact and direct successful operations within multidisciplinary specialty physician groups.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Financial Accountability
Maintains operational expenses in accordance with FY Budget projections.
Assists in Budget preparations for all vascular cost centers.
Monitors Budget variances and provides Responsibility Report responses to Business Manager and Finance, and Chief Operating Officer.
Provides for appropriate productivity reporting and meets or exceeds benchmarks relative to staffing/labor, and expenses.
Ensures appropriate CPT and reimbursement practices in concert with Revenue Management Department.
Active participant on the VI/CCL Value Analysis Committee to ensure best pricing initiatives for supplies and equipment.
Control Inventory cost through utilization of par levels, standardization, and consignments of higher cost products.
Interacts with Revenue Management Department and Compliance regarding charge master maintenance, coding, and reimbursement activities.
Collaborates with Cardiology Director of Finance to review financial reports including monthly statistics, and budget variance responses.
Manages Routine Operations
Adjusts staffing plans and scheduling practices to meet volume demands and fluctuations.
Maintains open line of communication between management team and physicians in facilitating daily operations.
Identifies problems and addresses them promptly, alerting appropriate people, and/or analyzing alternative measures and making reasonable decisions.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new trends, technology, and methods to ensure effective and competitive services.
Ensures smooth workflow, timely completion of all services, prioritization of the work, and effective interaction with other departments.
Assists scheduling personnel to ensure adequate time slots and appropriate block scheduling parameters.
Monitors room utilization and capacity on an ongoing basis to ensure efficiencies of operation.
Manages Human Resources
Provides for the interviewing, selecting, orientation/training and competency of staff.
Recruitment and retention of qualified staff.
Provides for effective employee orientation, mentoring process.
Creative staffing plans to provide adequate coverage and maintain cost at reasonable levels.
Coordinate employee survey results/outcomes with appropriate follow-up and action plans.
Provides and ensures appropriate development and training for staff.
Holds and oversees regularly scheduled staff meetings, and monthly management/physician meetings.
Quality Initiatives
Meets performance and quality improvement standards, maintaining policies/procedures and ensuring adherence.
Provides compliance for State, Federal, and JCAHO standards and regulations.
Oversees and coordinates performance improvement/education activities for all Kennestone Vascular Institute cost centers.
Oversees and provides for all Cardiac Cath Lab policies/procedures.
Implements and maintains Scope of Services for the Cardiac Cath Lab.
Interacts with Quality Review Staff to provide outcomes tracking data and analysis activities.
Ensures appropriate credentialing policies are followed during procedure criteria guidelines.
Maintains standard of care as outlined in the policies and procedures.
Ensures high quality, cost effective patient care.
Manages Strategic Planning
Coordinates any new services and construction/renovation projects.
Provides leadership for the Procedural Cardiology Program growth.
Assists in marketing activities for new services, and technology.
Oversees and coordinates new equipment purchases and installations.
Patient/Customer Satisfaction
Monitors patient satisfaction on an ongoing basis through Press Ganey Surveys, and makes appropriate recommendations, changes based on trending and results.
Provide timely follow up with patient/family concerns.
Monitors physician and office staff needs.
Interacts with Interventional Cardiologists regarding new services and programs.
Manages Change
Identifying opportunities and problems, analyzing, involving affected staff, and implementing changes when indicated.
Work with other departments regarding opportunities for improvement, new technology and services.

Required Minimum Education:
A graduate of accredited School of Nursing Required or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant in a relevant field. Required
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Registered CVI Specialist or Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Licensure/Certification in Nursing, Cardiovascular or another related field Required or Registered Cardiology Invasive Specialist Required
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 5 years interventional or Cath lab experience, with a minimum of three (3) years of management experience. Required
Required Minimum Skills:
The individual must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and display a positive attitude (see WellStars Standards of Gold and Values). Organizational skills that enable the individual to react and perform under stress and emergency situations and to manage two to three activities at one time on an on-going basis.
