Are you ready to gain experience in forensic psychology?



The Postdoctoral Fellowship in Juvenile Forensics will provide the opportunity to learn about the intricacies of the juvenile justice system and about the roles that Psychologists can have within that system by conducting evaluations in Western Massachusetts, including four counties- Hampden, Berkshire, Hampshire and Franklin . During the Postdoctoral Fellowship, you will learn to assess a variety of clinical issues and their impact on the specific forensic issues before the Court. The Postdoctoral Fellow will learn how to communicate their findings and offer their opinions regarding the clinical matter in clear and concise format that can be used by legal professionals. In addition, the Postdoctoral Fellowship will provide the opportunity to learn how to make appropriate recommendations for interventions and will develop skills in providing clinical consultation to judges, attorneys and probation officers. The primary task of this postdoctoral training program is to provide advanced training in a highly specialized field of professional psychology.


As the Postdoctoral Fellow, you will develop a thorough knowledge of mental health law. You will learn how to apply psychological principles within forensic evaluations during the Postdoctoral Fellowship. You will also gain an understanding of the relevant legal and mental health systems. During the Postdoctoral Fellowship, you will develop skills in forensic clinical assessment for use within the juvenile court. The assessments will have a focus on supporting access for youth and families to resources that support positive development and improve their overall functioning.



BHN's Juvenile Court Clinic program consists of a multi-disciplinary professional team. They are approachable, collaborative, cohesive, down to earth, knowledgeable, and supportive colleagues. All of the team members are highly motivated, independent, and demonstrate exceptional organizational and clinical skills. Services are provided for youth involved in both the Court and child welfare systems. Their dedication to the work grows out of a passion to support the learning and growth of adolescents and families who are court involved.

Requirements:


  • Doctorate in Psychology, with APA accredited Internship completed

  • Requires experience working with children and families

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills

  • Genuine desire to be a team player

  • Commitment to being part of a program that is highly respected

  • Statement of purpose

  • Clinical writing sample

  • This position will start May of 2025.
