This position will be responsible for multiple plant operations which include safety and environmental, quality, maintenance, production, and coaching the activities of the plant managers and all employees at the plant locations. This role will report to the Director of Operations and interact with the overall corporate team to craft and execute strategic plans for the direction of the organization.
Essential Functions
Safety & Environmental: * Responsible for promoting and ensuring that the plant leaders and all locations are compliant with all State, Federal, Company and MSHA rules and regulations. * Requires knowledge and awareness of site hazards and safe job planning and procedures. * Active participant in the corporate safety and environmental committee responsible for crafting the direction and execution of the safety and environmental strategies. * Ability to direct and coach the skills required to drive an integrated safety culture at the individual plant locations. * Ensure timely completion and follow through of all plant environmental and safety incidents. * Educates and promotes participation in safety and environmental related initiatives.
People: * Ability to evaluate the talents and skills of the plant leaders and ensure they are supported with the proper training and instructions to perform the essential functions of their jobs. * Responsible for the management and development of all plant leaders, including providing feedback and coaching through performance reviews and routine interaction. * Develop succession plans for your direct leaders and their teams. * Ability to create and implement long term development plans for plant leaders and their teams. * Partnering with your direct leaders and HR Business Partner for all employee related issues- investigations, disciplinary actions, hiring, terminations, and any employee changes. * Partner with your direct leaders to ensure employee productivity, operational efficiency, customer service levels, employee retention and morale by maintaining a positive working environment * Partners with your direct leaders and Sales to align production with customer needs. * Partners with your direct leaders and Quality Manager to ensure product compliance with industry and customer requirements. * Partner with your direct leaders on all capital expenditure requirements and coordinate needs with the overall group to ensure compliance with Engineering, Purchasing, and installation standards. * Partner with your direct leaders and Mine Planning, Land, and Environmental groups to ensure ongoing compliance and preparation requirements. * Partners with your direct leaders and outside vendors to obtain services as necessary to maintain performance of the facility.
Performance/Reporting: * Works with direct leaders to plan and schedule production requirements (people & equipment) to support daily, weekly and monthly sales forecast to meet customer's needs and optimizes balanced production. * Meets with direct leaders regularly to review plant performance and ongoing improvement needs. * Ensure plant leaders are maintaining and updating production KPI's and inventory data. * Partners with your direct leaders and Accounting to develop an annual operating budget which includes production volume and capital improvements to ensure lowest operating costs. * Responsible for managing costs and production to meet or exceed production budgets for your area. * Ensuring your plant leaders are tracking and reporting key performance indicators (tons per operating hour, uptime, delays, mobile fuel consumption, electrical consumption, drilling and blasting cost).
Quality Control: * Ensures all plants production meets or exceeds the state and customer requirements. * Ensure all plant locations are coordinating communication and activities with onsite quality control personnel and quality control manager. * Works with sales team to identify and resolve any customer quality issues and new opportunities.
Innovation: * Utilizes plant production data to identify opportunities to optimize plant and equipment. * Works with engineering team to develop long term capital replacement needs. * Works with sales team to identify new product opportunities for customers. * Works to identify cost saving/continuous improvement activities to improve operating efficiency.
Community/Personal: * Utilizes appropriate resources to enhance community relations and legislative efforts. * Actively participates in the area's community outreach and educational programs. * Identifies personal development needs to enable career growth.
Education Qualifications
Required High School or Equivalent
Preferred Bachelor's Degree
Experience Qualifications
Required 8+ years supervisory experience required with P/L knowledge
Preferred 5+ years experience in aggregate industry

Must demonstrate proficient business knowledge related to financials and operational tracking
Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of scheduling and production planning to meet customer needs
Frequent travel to company and customer sites
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Driver's license and a clear driving record Required

Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at waist or knees.
Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs.
Ability to work outside and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
This role supports the Northwest region, and the preferred candidate can reside anywhere within that area.
