This position is a vital component of the Indiana Tech Institutional Advancement team. The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations supports alumni engagement, events, and donor relations initiatives. This role will work closely with the Director of Alumni Relations to strengthen relationships with alumni and foster a culture of giving. While experience in this field is not mandatory, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team are essential. Transferable skills in event planning, relationship building, and communications are beneficial.





Essential Duties & Responsibilities



Alumni Engagement



  • Assist in planning and executing alumni events, reunions, and engagement activities to strengthen alumni connections with the university.

  • Oversee event timelines and deliverables, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and within the assigned event budget.

  • Execute day-of event logistics while acting as event host.

  • Help create and maintain communication channels to inform alumni about university updates and events. Communication formats: print, email, and social media platforms.

  • Assist with maintaining alumni information on the Indiana Tech website.

  • Attend alumni association board and committee meetings.

  • Create relationships with alumni to grow event attendance and volunteer participation.



Annual Fund Support



  • With guidance, create and compose annual fund campaign material.

  • Engage with alumni and donors to encourage their participation in annual giving efforts.

  • Assist in stewardship efforts by recognizing and expressing appreciation to alumni.



Alumni Database Responsibilities



  • Work within the alumni database to search and update alumni records.

  • Utilize database systems to set up event registration, send communication, and track alumni engagement.

  • Research alumni backgrounds and interests to tailor engagement strategies.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.





Qualifications



  • A bachelor's degree is required.

  • While experience in alumni relations and fundraising is beneficial, it is not mandatory.

  • Strong alignment with the philosophy and mission/values of Indiana Tech.

  • Preference for candidates who are alumni of Indiana Tech.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • An interest in fundraising is beneficial.

  • Well organized, able to prioritize, and ability to confidently troubleshoot during public events.

  • Comfortable with public speaking to small to medium groups.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Energetic, coachable, outgoing, with a positive attitude.

Experience
2-5 years of work experience in a relatable field.




Working Conditions


Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Work will be required during non-traditional office hours and weekends for events. Travel may be required. Must be able to push, pull, and lift to 25 pounds and be able to stand for long periods.
