SUMMARY We are seeking a versatile and proactive Accounting Clerk who will serve as a utility player across multiple accounting functions, including general accounting, accounts payable (AP), and payroll. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles, the ability to multitask, and a flexible approach to supporting various teams as needed. The Accounting Clerk will contribute to the smooth operation of the finance department by performing key duties and assisting with various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and timely processing of financial data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Accounting Support:
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
Assist with journal entries and reconciliations.
Assist with tracking and maintaining various schedules.
Accounts Payable (back up support):
Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Review and verify discrepancies, resolve issues with vendors, and maintain positive vendor relationships.
Reconcile AP accounts and assist with month-end AP reporting.
Payroll Support (backup support):
Assist with processing weekly payroll, as needed.
Verify employee timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies.
Process payroll deductions, taxes, and benefits.
Cross-Departmental Support:
Provide backup support to various accounting teams as needed, stepping in for absent staff or during peak periods.
Assist with ad-hoc projects, audits, and special requests from management.
Help with tracking financial transactions, analyzing data, and preparing reports.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
At least 1-2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or similar roles.
Familiarity with general accounting principles and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft Excel).
Experience in AP, AR, payroll processing, or other accounting functions is highly desirable.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and basic accounting software.
Familiarity with payroll systems and tax regulations is a plus.
Adaptable and eager to take on new challenges.
Proactive in identifying problems and offering solutions.
