Facilitates the design and development of trailer wheel end systems and/or components from concept through implementation. Provides technical support of current products to ensure they exceed the expectations of our production facilities and customers.
Essential Functions:
Create 3D models, assembly layouts, drawings, and specifications necessary to insure the proper fit, form, and function of the designs
Perform and participate in the analysis necessary to help define the most efficient product designs, in terms of cost-effectiveness, weight, and performance
Complete all associated top-level assembly and subassembly components, including detailing of part drawings. Process/Release Engineering Change Notices through proper channels and systems,
Develop and maintain appropriate design FMEA's and assist in the creation of the Design Verification Plan.
Create prototype drawings of suspension components and assemblies, for use in construction of prototypes to be built and tested at Hendrickson's R&D facility and assist in the testing when applicable.
Work closely with internal manufacturing and purchasing departments, as well as outside suppliers, to obtain the best overall solutions to design problems. Specify and approve MPAP and PPAP requirements.
Create and present product development material for Management review at major milestones throughout the product development process.

Education and Training
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Aeronautical Engineering, or similar discipline a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
• 3+ years' experience preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and application of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals
• Experience in vehicle structural design (preferably heavy or medium duty truck) with exposure to vehicle dynamics, structural analysis, fatigue analysis, and finite element analysis preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines required. Exposure to Project Management skills and techniques a plus.
• Good knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes such as welding, stamping, forming, machining, casting, etc. preferred.
• Solid modeling experience using 3D modeling software, PTC Creo preferred.
• Good drafting skills, including knowledge of dimensioning and tolerance practices per ANSI Y14.5 preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Occasional travel required.
Physical Demands
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position interfacing with a computer constantly.
• Minimal need to move about inside office and plant designated area.
• Occasional need to crawl under commercial vehicles and interact with mechanical components.
