Job Summary

The Product Owner II communicates the product vision and roadmap to the assigned Scrum Team to support the group in delivering the highest value product features to satisfy requirements and drive business growth. This role works closely with the other teams to ensure that investments are aligned to the organization's goals. The Product Owner II requires both customer and business-oriented knowledge and communication skills, as well as an understanding of technology needs in order to drive assigned product roadmap for standardized and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities/Duties - what you will be doing


  • Works closely with Product Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI. Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories for the scrum team

  • Makes priority decisions for product based on measurable business and operational value. Ability to participate in a continuous feedback loop to work in a teaming environment to drive decision making

  • Provides transparency of completed and planned work and obtain feedback from stakeholders in sprint/iteration reviews and demos.

  • Prioritizes requirements based on the objectives of the project/solution and considerations of the overarching business & customer needs

  • Forecasts product/feature delivery timeframes in collaboration with your team/s

  • Communicates and fosters high-level solutions visions & goals

  • Works with the Product Manager to evaluate the product roadmap to identify elements for development and identify "definition of done".

  • Produces workflows, complete data mapping and perform business process design.

  • Conducts User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and participate in sprint demos to ensure that the final product meets the "definition of done".

  • Aids in the creation of release notes and support the training of new features to the end users.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications - what you need to perform the job

Education, Certification and Licensure

  • Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science, Business, Information Management or Statistics

Experience (minimum years required):


  • 3-5 years in the Health Insurance industry

  • 3+ years of experience working as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or Product Analyst

Skill Requirements


  • Results-oriented, and able to influence others to meet goals in positive manner

  • Experience in process definition, often in ambiguous situations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and on paper, and at all levels of the organization.

  • High level Presentation skills required.

  • Ability to make decisions in a timely swift manner.

  • Ability to manage projects, identify, analyze, and solve practical problems considering relevant factors and a wide variety of variables.

  • High level of independent judgment and initiative required.

  • Start-up mentality and desire to innovate at a fast pace.

  • Excellent critical thinker skills to make balanced, insightful decisions.

  • Ability to thrive in a fully SAFe-Agile development environment.

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Knowledge of Agile methodology preferably in the scaled agile framework.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Experience with vendor management.

  • Willingness to listen, learn and accept other's opinions.
