About the Role


As a Senior Associate II at Uber Freight in the S&P (Strategy & Planning) team, focusing on our SMB business (Uber Freight Shipping), you will play a key role in driving high-impact initiatives that directly affect the P&L. Uber Freight Shipping is our industry-leading self-service freight booking platform for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). You will work closely with cross-functional teams across Sales/Account Management, Customer Support, Marketing, Product, Finance, and other departments to deliver data-driven insights, optimize operational processes, and ensure the ongoing success of our platform.

Joining a dynamic, startup-like environment within a larger organization, you will collaborate with a talented team of entrepreneurs and innovators who are passionate about experimentation and iteration. You will be responsible for tracking progress against P&L targets, improving sales and operational efficiencies, and preparing strategic dashboards and reports for senior leadership. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to wear multiple hats and lead various problem-solving initiatives as the business continues to scale.

Since launching in 2018, Uber Freight Shipping (formerly known as the Shipper Platform) has grown to become a significant part of Uber Freight and is currently undergoing an exciting transformation with the introduction of new service modes and advanced system integration features.

Your business acumen, leadership skills, and ability to foster cross-functional relationships will be crucial in helping shape the strategic direction of the platform while ensuring alignment with overall company objectives. You will be expected to provide sophisticated, data-driven insights and contribute to the evolution of the business by challenging assumptions and introducing fresh, innovative ideas.


What The Candidate Will Do

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales/Account Management, Customer Support, Product, and Finance teams to develop product roadmaps, strategic frameworks, executive-level presentations, and financial plans.
  • Customer Engagement: Leverage both qualitative and quantitative insights to enhance customer engagement and retention, ensuring continuous improvement in customer experience.
  • Collection Management: Partner with the Accounts Receivable team to implement effective strategies and best practices for managing past dues and reducing bad debt write-offs.
  • Acquisition Funnel Optimization:Drive improvements in funnel conversion through marketing dollar optimization, UI/product enhancements, and sales rep efficiency initiatives.
  • Tool and Dashboard Development: Create and manage tools and dashboards that streamline workflows, improve productivity, and provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders.
  • External Partnerships: Own and cultivate key relationships with external partners, driving mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Market Intelligence: Conduct competitive analysis and develop innovative strategies to stay ahead of market trends and competitors.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in finance, strategy, consulting, investment banking, or similar analytical roles, with a strong emphasis on operational and commercial acumen.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (or Google Sheets) modeling and advanced SQL skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in venture capital, entrepreneurship, or a high-growth startup environment.
  • Background in technology, logistics, or transportation.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis or automation.
  • Proven track record of critical problem-solving and decision-making in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain cross-functional relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in project management and leading organizational change initiatives.
  • Team leadership and development experience.
