A non-sworn position reporting to the Patrol Sergeant. This individual patrols the campus providing personal and building security.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Secure University buildings (i.e. lock/unlock doors, disarm/arm alarms, turn off lights, secure windows)
Detect and report security discrepancies on campus (i.e. broken lights, defective locks, suspicious persons and objects, etc.). The person in this position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority and Responsible Employee for Clery and Title IX purposes respectively, the employee will maintain current training and comply with the responsibilities of both titles.
Promote positive relations with University faculty, staff, students and visitors
Conduct tests of classroom emergency phones and residence hall door monitoring system
Assist with special events as needed to provide general security, access control, parking assistance, and other specific duties as assigned.
Provide services to the University community, as needed, including jump starts, escorts and locking/unlocking doors when requested, etc.
Perform other duties, responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Compliance with department policies and procedures
Possess clear and concise written and oral communication
Ability to detect odor
Comprehend and carry out instructions
Ability to operate a golf cart and university vehicle
Good driving history
Operate basic locking mechanisms
Able to pass Campus Security Officer training
Maintain good physical condition to perform the functions of the job
Ability to employ proper police radio and communication procedures
Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or G.E.D
Security Experience in a college atmosphere helpful, but not required
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 3 starting at $19.00/hr
