Colonial Oil Industries, Inc. (COI) is one of the largest independent oil companies in the Southeast and has been serving the region since 1921. With strategic ocean terminals in Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, and Jacksonville, FL, along with numerous terminals along the Colonial and Plantation Pipeline, COI has an extensive network to supply gasoline and diesel fuel to the Southeast.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accountant II is responsible for tasks relating to general accounting functions and financial reporting. This position is responsible for a variety of daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks associated with Colonial Group’s accounting processes. Key duties will include:
JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES
• Analyze financial transactions and accounts to determine accuracy and completeness of entries.
• Manage accounting for pipeline inventory in Allegro ETRM system, reconcile to third party terminal reports and invoices and reconciliation to related general ledger accounts in JD Edwards ERP system.
• Manage interfaces between Allegro and PDI for bulk fuel sales on a weekly basis and resolve any discrepancies with the Collections team.
• Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
• Research and respond to accounting inquiries from various personnel and communicate findings in a clear and concise manner.
• Develop an in-depth working knowledge of all operational and accounting computer software/equipment systems that impact the accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Ensure that all deadlines are met in accordance with department closing dates.
• Create journal entries including but not limited to, recording revenues, expenses, inventory and other miscellaneous transactions of certain company subsidiaries.
• Prepare various other monthly account reconciliations which may include receivables, payables, accrued expenses, and other accounts. This responsibility includes any daily or weekly processes that lead to the overall reconciliation of the monthly activity.
• Other special projects, reports, tasks, and financial assessments as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Senior Management.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
• 3-7 years of accounting experience
• Allegro (Horizon) ETRM experience is preferred.
• Prior inventory accounting experience is required
