Experience with Restaurant365 and/or TOAST Software:
Restaurant365: A popular accounting, inventory, and scheduling platform tailored for restaurants, so familiarity with its modules (AP/AR, inventory, payroll, etc.) is often essential.
TOAST: A point-of-sale (POS) system that integrates with back-end accounting. Understanding TOAST data extraction, revenue tracking, and integration with accounting software is often needed.
Education and Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA designation is a plus but may not be required for all roles.
Experience Level:
4-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in the restaurant industry. Senior Accountants typically have experience beyond entry-level accounting and demonstrate analytical and supervisory skills.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with other accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) is often preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP.
Industry Knowledge:
Knowledge of restaurant operations, including revenue recognition, inventory management, labor costing, and compliance with industry-specific tax requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
Reconcile accounts, ensuring accuracy in GL entries.
Cost and Inventory Management:
Track inventory costs and food costs, working with Restaurant365 data to maintain profitability.
Analyze labor costs using data from TOAST to improve labor efficiency.
Audit and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards.
Assist in audits, especially with data pulled from Restaurant365 and TOAST, to ensure proper reporting of sales and inventory.
Support Operational Efficiency:
Work with restaurant management to understand financial performance and provide insights for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
Use software data to generate insights and streamline accounting processes.
Team Collaboration:
Coordinate with HR and payroll to manage labor costs.
Work with operations teams on budget adherence and cost control.
Software Integration and Troubleshooting:
Maintain integration between Restaurant365, TOAST, and other software to ensure data flows accurately.
Troubleshoot any discrepancies or software-related issues that may affect financial reporting.
