POSITION SUMMARY: An experienced Engineering leader who will lead, manage, and drive the Engineering functions (Analytical Engineering, Design Engineering, Test Engineering).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage a cross functional team of engineers providing mentoring and guidance to subordinate engineering positions.
Manage a broad variety of products in a vertically integrated business as the technical expert across multiple brands.
Lead a cross functional team and manage all aspects of development to deliver new products with exceptional quality, on time and to budget which meet the needs of the customer.
Interpret customer specifications and requirements to develop comprehensive product specifications.
Lead the definition, design, development, testing, and validation efforts for product realization.
Lead Problem Solving Initiatives.
Lead FMEA, Reliability Studies, etc.
Work with cross-functional departments to include marketing, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, as required in the efforts of product realization.
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Plan, manage and report status of projects to the broader organization and management.
Work closely with sales and marketing, contribute to strategic planning process and develop product roadmaps to meet company growth initiatives.
Develop detailed design requirements by understanding / obtaining voice of the customer, general market knowledge, competitive assessment and working with the sales and marketing organizations.
Lead benchmarking and reverse engineering efforts to assess competitive technologies.
Identify product costs and manage projects accordingly using a multi stage gate development process.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Engineering; Masters preferred
8-10 years of experience engineering - thermal systems, heat exchanges, and areospace and defense a plus
Advanced understanding and use of engineering tools such as DFMEAs, statistical engineering techniques, Design of Experiments, product capability analysis, etc.
Experience working in multi-discipline team framework with formal project planning.
Minimum of 5 years managing technical direct reports.
Experience managing budgets across multiple projects and responsibilities
Proven problem-solving skills
Demonstrated experience as the technical lead for strategic initiative planning.
Strong technical leadership and excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to function effectively in a cross functional team environment.
Ability to work independently and develop / execute action plans to achieve results.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects utilizing internal and external resources including global product development partners.
Experience working in a culture where results matter and metrics are utilized.
Experienced in prototyping and evaluating design concepts.
Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills including the ability to perform root cause analysis.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be capable of working closely with direct customers
Experience should include build to order manufacturing management experience in medium volume / high mix production environments, preferably in the military or aerospace industries.
Demonstrated history of successful change management, deployment of lean practices and design for six sigma.
SPECIAL SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS/REQUISITES:
US Citizenship required.
3-D modeling package, Solidworks preferred
Statistical Engineering, Design of Experiments, Failure Analysis, etc
Able to work independently without supervision.
Ability to lead through influence

Compensation
Salary Minimum: $180,000
Salary Maximum: $200,000
