Zubatkin Owner Representation (“ZOR”), a Cumming Group Company was established in 1994 and primarily serves not-for-profit organizations, including museums, performing arts, educational and religious institutions, across the East Coast of the United States. The focus of our practice is to assist in the strategic planning, design, and construction of capital projects. Our diverse portfolio spans all aspects of a project’s development – from initial real estate analysis, master planning and programming through design, construction and move-in – for both new construction and renovation and expansion projects.
We are currently looking for a Project Accountant based in New York, NY. The Project Accountant reports directly to the Program Director and will be responsible for assisting with budgets, expenditures, risk management, and other financial reporting functions.
Responsibilities
Manage cost controls and compliance in a cloud-based project management system.
Solid understanding of the budget, commitments, payables, forecast, and variance analysis.
Be able to review AIA forms from contractor.
Validate invoices against executed agreements.
Resolve any issues with consultants regarding outstanding invoices.
Prepare accruals and answer any questions.
Ability to research multiple data bases for project financial information.
Understanding of contract documents for both GC’s and Consultants.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or commensurate experience.
2-5 years' of experience as a Project Accountant within the construction industry is required.
Sound understanding of general accounting principles.
A thorough understanding of Microsoft Office is a plus.
Intermediate skills with project management software including eBuilder.
Familiarity with cloud-based project management systems is a plus.
Experience with overseeing a large portfolio of work is a plus.
Strong communication skills are required.
Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated success at building team relationships and partnerships across organizational lines.
