The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, seeks a physician-scientist to be appointed as Assistant or Associate Professor in the University Tenure Line (UTL) or University Medical Line (UML) at Stanford University School of Medicine. The candidates should have an outstanding record (or potential record) of accomplishment in research, with relevance to cancer biology and hematological malignancies, in addition to superb skills in clinical care, and a strong commitment to mentoring and teaching. Candidates with a focused area of research activity in multiple myeloma, myeloid malignancies or other hematological cancers (excluding lymphoma) are highly encouraged to apply. The candidates will be considered across broad areas of expertise including laboratory and translational research.


The predominant criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Tenure Line (UTL) is a major commitment to research, mentoring and teaching. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.


The successful applicant should have an MD, or MD/PhD with a subspecialty focus in Hematology and/or Oncology. The candidate is expected to hold or be able to obtain a CA medical license. Board certification or board eligibility in hematology or oncology is also required.


The successful candidate will be expected to lead and grow their research program (either laboratory-based or translational), attend in the outpatient clinic in the Cancer Center and/or on the Hematology inpatient services at Stanford Hospital. Additional responsibilities for the candidate will include the mentorship and career development of trainees, as well as teaching of residents and fellows at Stanford.

The expected base pay range for this position is:


Assistant Professor: $275,000 - $289,000


Associate Professor: $301,000 - $361,000


This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine's faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
