Partner with Project HR Manager on all employee relation issues.
Providing guidance to managers and supervisors on employee-related matters, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
Conduct effective investigations regarding possible discrimination, harassment, and policy violations , including conclusions and recommendations of corrective action. (partner with legal department as needed)
Partner with Union Business Agents to remedy claims brought forward by craft employees.
Stays current and maintains compliance with Craft Union applicable Master Labor Agreements.
Stays current and maintains in-depth knowledge of Human Resources and legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees including craft personnel, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
Works in partnership with the Project HR Manager to develop, coordinate, and conduct training programs.
Partner with managers to establish and provide training and development opportunities.
Supports the HR Generalist in talent acquisition initiatives and contributes to recruiting by sourcing candidates, interviewing/phone screening, attending job fairs and creating offers for approval for candidates.
Respond to general employee inquiries and issues and support the operation with day-to-day HR needs as they arise.
Responsible for continued self-development of HR knowledge
Leaves Management-
For Craft employees
Administer and manage leaves in accordance with federal, state, or local requirements.
Determine eligibility for FMLA, ADA, state-specific leaves, and other approved leaves of absence.
Manage active and pending LOAs, including eligibility, physician certifications, start/end dates, check-ins, and return-to-work dates.
Notify Payroll department of employees on leave and return-to-work dates.
Company employees
Communicate and coordinate with company benefits and payroll departments regarding employees inquiring about leave needs.
Outreach-
Take lead with building and maintaining professional relationships with Trade schools, Craft Pre-Apprenticeship programs, surrounding area High School CTE programs.
Participant of Project Outreach Team meetings and events.
Qualifications
Required -
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, or related field
5-7 years of progressive Human Resources experience with a strong emphasis on employee relations, investigations, training and development, and leaves management
Thorough knowledge of federal and California employment-related laws/regulations and leaves of absences laws and regulations both federal and state (e.g., FMLA, PDL, ADA, EEO and FLSA)
Experience in a union environment
Preferred -
PHRca or PHR Certification
Construction or civil engineering industry experience
Bilingual in English/Spanish

Base Annual Salary range - $75,000-$87,000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, and skillset)
