Job Title: Laboratory Operations Technician, R&D
Department: 4321- Hardware Engineering
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

Insulet provides a fast paced and energetic work environment, where team members develop innovative, customer-focused drug delivery products aimed at meaningfully improving quality of life for those afflicted with chronic diseases.

This position will report to the Laboratory Operations Supervisor and will be primarily responsible for supporting day to day operations of multiple engineering laboratories at Massachusetts offices. The main objective of this position will be ensuring smooth operation of multi-user laboratories, preparation of mission critical equipment and promote safe work environment among lab users.

Responsibilities:

• Supports equipment monthly calibration and preventative maintenance process while maintaining equipment availability


• Provides or supports organization of training, guidance, and assistance to personnel on use of lab equipment


• Ensures laboratory cleanliness, storing materials in designated areas or properly disposing in accordance with lab guidelines


• Actively supports safe working environment and promotes culture of safety in the lab settings


• Maintains inventory of personal protective equipment, consumable materials, 3D printer supplies, chemicals storage, and Safety Data Sheets on all chemicals in lab


• Assists with lab improvement projects


• Performs or supports execution of small repairs as directed


• Performs other duties as necessary

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma / GED and 4+ years working in a laboratory environment, or Associates and 2+ years

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

• Demonstrates willingness to follow direction and communicate with others


• Office Software Proficiency (Word, Excel) and technical writing capabilities


• Working knowledge of SAP ERP software


• Experienced with GDP (i.e., accurate recordkeeping)


• Self-starter, detail oriented, reliable, and effective verbal/written communicator


• Experienced with building relationships with engineering staff and vendors in laboratory setting


• Workplace safety training


• Experience in a medical device regulated environment


• Ability to organize work, effective time management and judge priorities with guidance


• Problem solving and collaboration skills


• Understanding of procurement and inventory control

• Able to lift 20 lbs.

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $22.60 - $33.92. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
