The Role
Develops, analyzes, researches, and designs nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques, procedures, and applications such as phased array ultrasonic testing and computed radiography to improve efficiency and effectiveness of NDT. Prepares technical documentation in order to implement waterfront NDT processes including specifications, analyses, standards, and restrictions. Creates new or modifies current NDT methods, techniques, and procedures. Uses knowledge of NDT, materials and welding to evaluate non-conforming conditions on the waterfront and at NNS suppliers to determine acceptability of the product. Performs root cause analysis, common cause analysis and statistical analysis to support process improvement efforts in NDT.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master's Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
