Position Title: Associate/Project Manager - Project Development

Description: The project manager supports all activities such as collaboration, coordination, evaluation, managing and exercises functional authority over all activities associated with contract negotiations, execution and administration, and construction management for projects; including but not limited to, generation additions and upgrades, electric vehicle infrastructure, energy storage, decommissioning, environmental, communications, facilities, asset acquisitions, new technology, and other projects as assigned. Administers the associated contracts, manages the use of internal resources, contractors and consultants, ensures regulatory compliance and has fiscal responsibility for all costs associated with the execution of the projects. This position maintains key business, public and stakeholder relationships. The project manager oversees the completion of project due diligence, project supplies and contractor labor. The project manager coordinates the timely completion of project tasks; including but not limited to, permitting requirements, regulatory approvals, safety and environmental compliance, contract administration, contractor and consultant management, maintaining projects schedules and financials, technical review of equipment and project plans, manage relationships with governmental personnel and landowners, and other tasks related to project management.
Responsibilities: Manages and executes multiple large-scale projects across the state of Iowa and service territory. Coordinates with internal and external resources in the completion of project evaluations, schedules, cost forecasts and tracking, project studies and surveys, regulatory approvals, resource assessments, supporting the acquisition of local, state, and federal permits. Oversees the completion of project construction with regular attendance at project construction sites required. Oversees project contractors, consultants, schedules, costs, and processes to ensure the safe and timely completion of projects. Ensures alignment with company goals, business plans and objectives. Leads the turnover of projects to company operational business units. Supports the development of corporate, and organizational business plans. (40%)
Manages the development and execution of project request for proposals and business negotiations and contract development for asset acquisition, equipment supply, construction and other consultant and contractor contracts for projects, to ensure continuity with strategic development plans and company goals. (20%)
Evaluates project equipment and new technologies for the potential implementation into the company's asset portfolio and assists in the development and execution of strategic plans for acquisition and/or development of projects. (10%)
Supports the due diligence process for project acquisition and equipment procurement by properly identifying the risks and benefits of potential projects and equipment supply, including identifying the resource, environment, permitting and construction risks and costs, and operational requirements. (10%)
Build and maintains key government agency, landowner and business relationships that support the construction and operations of projects. Provides presentations to internal and external audiences. Supports the company's response to landowner and local government agencies, concerns, issues and internal and external data requests that arise during development and construction activities. Monitor and report on performance related to safety, compliance, budget, schedule and quality for all project construction activity. The position is responsible for project document acquisition, organization, maintenance, and control. (10%)

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, accounting or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Eight years of related experience involving responsibility for substantial project, technical or financial assignments required for the project manager role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required, and presentation skills are preferred.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues, tasks and projects concurrently.

Ability to travel regularly (typically 50% travel).
