SUMMARY


Atrius Health Specialty Pharmacy provides specialty pharmacy service to serve the complex medication needs of its chronic patients. Atrius Health Specialty Pharmacy provides patients who require specialty drugs a comprehensive service program that includes an on-site pharmacy staffed with a care team that includes Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Liaisons. The Pharmacy Patient Liaison is a unique role that provides integrated support to patients and pharmacists by providing a 'hands-on' approach to total quality patient care.


This position is considered essential to the growth and maintenance of the specialty pharmacy business line and is considered at the core of supporting health system operating margin. This hybridized role is a unique combination of patient service delivery and business performance. The Pharmacy Patient Liaison works closely with patients to deliver a full continuum of medication adherence support by utilizing Atrius Health's various tools and applications. Encourages patients of clinics to utilize Atrius Health Specialty Pharmacy to fully benefit from its superior patient care service while seamlessly integrating with the clinic team (doctors, nurses, staff, etc.) is critical to the liaison's success.


EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS



  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit required.

  • Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program or institutional/retail pharmacy experience.

  • Must currently be a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Massachusetts with an active pharmacy technician license without restrictions from the MA Board of Pharmacy.

  • Must currently have an active National Pharmacy Training Certification without restrictions.

  • Must complete Certified Pharmacy Technician Continuing Education (CE) credits per calendar year as required by National Pharmacy Technician Certification and in accordance with Pharmacy Staff License Monitoring and Maintenance of Credentials Policy

  • Must not be listed on the Exclusion Database List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) maintained by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG).


EXPERIENCE



  • At least 3 years of pharmacy support experience required, preferably with at least 1-2 years of experience in Specialty Pharmacy.

  • Prior authorization experience preferred.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.



SKILLS



  • Capacity to work independently by managing workload and meeting established goals in a fast-paced environment.

  • Requires knowledge of laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice and patient confidentiality.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills are preferred.

  • Must be team oriented and demonstrate excellent customer service skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and colleagues.

  • Requires knowledge of medication abbreviation and symbols, common dosage calculations, and storage requirements.

  • Strong computer skills are preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook desirable.

  • Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.

  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving.




All Pharmacy Department applicants, (excluding Clinical Pharmacy) who are offered a job with Atrius Health will be tested for drugs as part of the post job offer employment screening process.
