Position: Professional Specialist, Center for Health and Wellbeing

Description: The Center for Health and Wellbeing (CHW), part of the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, invites outstanding researchers to apply for appointments as a Professional Specialist. CHW fosters research and teaching on the multiple aspects of health and wellbeing in both developed and developing countries. The center's goals are to understand the determinants of health and wellbeing and the role that public policy plays in shaping the quality of people's lives, and to educate undergraduates and graduate students who aspire to careers in health and health policy. The Professional Specialists will support CHW through advising and mentoring students, supporting events, contributing to courses, and conducting and promoting original research. The term of the appointments is one year, with the possibility of reappointment. The positions can start at the beginning of the fall or spring semesters. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University. Selected candidates will be required to demonstrate to the program's satisfaction the ability to be on campus on a daily basis in order to fulfill responsibilities relating to in-person participation. Candidates who are working in various social science or natural science disciplines will be considered. Applicable social science fields include but are not limited to: public policy, anthropology, political science, public health, demography, economics, sociology, global health, political science, social determinants of health. Applicable natural science fields include but are not limited to: epidemiology, disease ecology, environmental health, biostatistics, vaccination. Responsibilities *Advise health-focused students on research methodologies, Institutional Review Board policies, postgraduate academic opportunities, and health-focused career pathways *Support planning of and participate in public and private health-focused events for the Center for Health and Wellbeing and Global Health Program, including but not limited to seminars, lunch talks, panel discussions, and conferences *Contribute toward student learning through participation in health-focused undergraduate or graduate courses as guest lecturer or primary lecturer. Any teaching is contingent on sufficient enrollments and must be approved by the Office of the Dean of the Faculty. *Conduct original research on global health topics in the natural sciences, social sciences, engineering sciences, and/or the humanities and present to various audiences *Support CHW faculty, staff, and students through engagement with co-curricular activities such as the Health Scholars Program, Internships in Global Health, and the Global Health Program Committee *Collaborate with CHW partner departments, programs, offices, and research centers across campus in research promotion and dissemination, event planning, academic programming, and student support Qualifications *PhD completed by the start date of the appointment *Excellent research and writing skills *Experience supporting and mentoring college students *Well-organized, attentive to detail, and able to respond to deadlines in a timely manner This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
