ERM is seeking a motivated Air Quality Staff Engineer to join our consulting team in Portland, OR.  The successful candidate will primary work as part of a local source testing team focused on the technology sector, as well as on a variety of interesting technical projects for clients in the oil & gas, energy, and manufacturing sectors throughout Mountains and Pacific West. RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Conduct air quality field stack testing at client locations.

  • Work within the field air quality team to perform various air quality stack tests at local and also at multiple locations across the U.S. with an emphasis in the Mountains and Pacific region.

  • Perform maintenance on existing testing and laboratory equipment to be in compliance with the applicable regulatory and ERM standards. 

  • Perform system and quality checks to troubleshoot issues.

  • Conduct air quality analyses, assess regulatory compliance, and perform regulatory applicability evaluations.

  • Implement environmental compliance management systems and processes.

  • Perform multiple tasks within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.

  • Interact and maintain successful relationships with clients, ERM employees, and subcontractors.

Preferred but not required:


  • Current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) certification.

  • Knowledge of current laboratory testing procedures and standards.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • BS in chemical, environmental, or mechanical engineering or related degree;

  • Recent graduate to 2 years of direct consulting or industry experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of air emissions reporting processes.

  • Operate vehicles and machinery safety per ERM procedures and protocols.

  • Air Quality field experience. 

  • Willing to travel. 

  • Ability to use, repair, and maintain air quality equipment and tools.

  • Ability to perform physical labor necessary for stack testing and routinely lift 50 pounds.

  • Ability to climb ladders and platforms safely that are elevated multiple stories above ground. 

  • Situationally, willing to work weekends and extended hours (more than 8 per day and 40 hours per week). 

  • Strong hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
