Job Description

Join the KPFF Lacey team as a motivated and passionate entry-level hydraulics & stream design engineer who is eager to develop design and project management skills. We are accepting applications to fill positions immediately. Applications should include a resume and cover letter.

Our engineers work in dynamic teams with open communication and strong support from senior-level mentors. We encourage decision-making at the closest level to the issue to most efficiently and effectively serve our clients and promote professional growth for our staff. This position provides opportunities to work on a variety of projects which include:


  • Bridge and Culvert Replacement

  • Stream Channel Restoration

  • Large Woody Material Placement

  • Parks and Recreation Facilities


We provide the opportunity for our engineers to take part in all aspects of the design process and look for candidates who want to be challenged and stretch outside their comfort zone. General project tasks that our engineers perform are as follows:

  • Stream assessments

  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling

  • Scour Analysis

  • Streambed Stability Analysis

  • Large Woody Material Stability Analysis

  • Fish Passage Design

  • Prepare construction drawings

  • Site grading

  • Prepare technical reports

  • Prepare project specifications

  • Prepare project cost estimates

  • Review and submit permit applications

  • Provide construction administration support

  • Communicate with design consultants, municipalities, contractors, and clients

  • Attend site visits


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer, reviewing plans, or conducting site visits.

  • Capacity to move around project sites, climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain.

  • Occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds of equipment or materials.

Qualifications


  • B.S. Degree or higher

  • EIT Certification (preferred)

  • HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D experience is highly desirable

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and collaborative skills are essential

  • Competency, accountability, and personal commitment to deliver quality work to our clients

Additional Information

Compensation
The base salary for this role is competitive, with a range of $74,000 - $93,000 determined by experience, education, and skills. KPFF also offers performance-based bonuses to recognize outstanding contributions. Additional details about the full compensation package will be provided during the interview process.
