Job Description:

Hearst Magazines is hiring an Associate Video Producer to join the central video team in our West Coast offices. This person will be working closely with a team of producers to support production of high-quality video content across all of the Hearst Magazine brands, particularly in the lifestyle, fitness and health space. 

The ideal candidate will be an organizational whiz with solid communication skills who excels in a fast-paced environment, and is capable of balancing multiple projects simultaneously. We are looking for an independent problem solver who is quick on their feet. Though this is a role on the video team, strong writing skills are a must. 

The Associate Producer will be the go-to point of contact for various shoots and projects– this role will require you to collaborate with various teams across many different verticals and magazines, so the ability to quickly pivot, work well with others, and adapt to many different aesthetics and working styles will be required. This person will also work across our TV and Film development slate assisting with creative, sizzle shoots, and more.

This position will report to the Director of Video.

Job Responsibilities: 


  • Assist in preparing shoot schedules + sending out call sheets

  • Coordinate shoot details including props, crafty, lunches, wardrobe, glam and more

  • Coordinate and keep track of all necessary releases for shoots

  • Coordinate studio bookings, both in-house and outsourced studios when needed

  • Curate talent info sheets and create creative doc templates for producers 

  • Research and assist in writing treatments for different video formats (shortform, digital, and longform)

  • Write talent bios and work with producers to flesh out written video creative

  • Assist with organizing and maintaining budgets/expenses

  • Write graphics for video (and provided research sources as needed)

  • Source assets for creative decks and videos

  • Assist with booking and coordinating crew, talent, equipment rentals as needed

  • Work closely with Line Producers to secure proper insurance/documentation for shoots

  • Book travel for talent and crew as needed

  • Book studios and locations for shoots

  • Work closely with the development team on research, decks, and creative

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 2-3 years minimum experience in digital production environment

  • Strong writing skills

  • Experience working in AirTable a major plus

  • The ideal candidate will be pop-culture obsessed and up to date on upcoming trends/topics/social media platforms

  • The ideal candidate will be well versed in the different editorial voices of all Hearst Magazines brands

  • Must have excellent communication and organization skills

  • Must be able to adhere to strict deadlines

  • Must be a team player who thrives on teamwork and collaboration

  • This is a hybrid role that will require you to work in-office and on-set as needed, sometimes on short notice

  • Must be available to work flexible hours

The base salary for this role is between $64,000-$68,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
