Why choose the Chandler Laboratory?

  • We are a 5-year NIH R01 funded lab that investigates the mechanisms by which cell signaling, chromatin structure and the epigenome are modulated during the menstrual cycle and in response to disease-associated mutations and other risk factors.

  • Our research utilizes biochemistry, functional genomics, in vivo mouse models of human disease, and ex vivo human endometrial organoid models.

  • Dr. Chandler is a great mentor. He has a strong track record in preparing trainees for a successful career in both academia and industry. Examples include assisting graduate students and postdoctoral research associates with fellowship/grant awards and preparing postdoctoral research associates for faculty roles at R1 universities. Postdoctoral Research Associates in the Chandler Lab have received prestigious postdoctoral fellowships and NIH K99/R00 awards. Trainees with career interests in teaching, industry or government are encouraged to take time outside the lab to enrich their postgraduate training and experiences, including participation in education, service, teaching and internships. Examples include part-time summer internships at a company, programming courses, and undergraduate teaching.

  • The Chandler Lab is within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Michigan State University and is affiliated with the Van Andel Institute Department of Epigenetics and Henry Ford Health System's Women's Health Services, which includes a group of highly collaborative scientists seeking to understand how genetic, epigenetic, physiological, or lifestyle changes may either protect or predispose individuals to gynecologic cancer and disease.

  • Michigan State University has a long history of excellence in the reproductive developmental sciences, and is unique in having both cutting-edge research in the reproductive and developmental sciences across a wide range of animal models, clinical entities and in population-based human reproductive outcomes.

Why join the Chandler Lab as a Postdoctoral Researcher?

Postdoctoral Research Associates are full-time employees and receive a competitive annual salary. Medical insurance and relocation assistance will be provided.

We recognize that selecting where to complete a postdoctoral fellowship is a significant decision. In addition to a dedicated Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, which provides a comprehensive professional development program, individualized professional development plans will be implemented to ensure your career goals are met. Postdoctoral Research Associates are also required to meet regularly with a Postdoc Advisory Committee (PAC) consisting of senior researchers who will assist them with their professional development needs.
