Overview


Tulane University School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified faculty candidate for the Infectious Diseases Transplant Fellowship program. The ideal candidate will have completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases with specialized training in transplant medicine. This role involves clinical responsibilities, teaching, and research in the field of infectious diseases related to transplant patients. East Jefferson General Hospital, Tulane's academic flagship hospital with 407 inpatient beds, Leapfrog A, CMS 4-star rating, Magnet status Hospital since 2002, boasts a 16 bed bone marrow transplant unit, a 12 bed solid organ Transplant unit, with plans for cardiac/lung transplant program launch in 2025.



Key Responsibilities


 



  • Clinical Duties

  • Provide comprehensive care for transplant patients with infectious complications.

  • Conduct evaluations and manage pre- and post-transplant patients.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, nephrologists, gastroenterologists and other specialists.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of protocols for infection prevention and management in transplant recipients.


  • Teaching Responsibilities

  • Educate medical students, residents, and fellows on infectious diseases in transplantation.

  • Lead didactic sessions and case discussions.

  • Mentor trainees in clinical practice and research projects.


  • Research Activities

  • Engage in clinical research focusing on infectious diseases in transplant populations.

  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national conferences.

  • Seek funding opportunities to support research initiatives.

    Qualifications:



    Qualifications


  • MD or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

  • Completion of an Infectious Diseases fellowship with an additional year of training in an Infectious Diseases Transplant training program.

  • Board certification or eligibility in Infectious Diseases.

  • Strong clinical skills and experience in managing complex transplant patients.

  • Proven track record of scholarly activity, including publications and presentations.
