Scope of Position


The Staff Radiation Therapist functions as an integral member of the Department of Radiation Oncology of the Medical Center. The primary purpose of the Staff Radiation Therapist is to perform radiation therapy and imaging procedures involving the application of X-rays and radioactive substances to patients for simulation and treatment for malignancies and pain. The Staff Radiation Therapist is responsible for the accurate delivery of prescribed planned courses of radiation therapy to patients in the Department of Radiation Oncology. The Staff Radiation Therapist performs quality assessment activities, education, training, and oversight to radiation therapy students as directed by the Radiation Therapy Manager.





Position Summary


The Staff Radiation Therapist performs radiation therapy and imaging procedures assisting in treatment planning and maintenance of prescribed standards set forth by the Radiation Oncologist. The Staff Radiation Therapist reinforces advice and monitors patients for unusual reactions and events, observes radiation safety measures for patients and staff, and assists in student teaching, oversight, and supervision. In addition, the Staff Radiation Therapist provides patient education, participating in the education and research missions of the Medical Center through active participation in clinical education and clinical projects. and performs quality assessment activities for the Department of Radiation Oncology.





Minimum Qualifications



For Hire: 2-Year College Degree or equivalent education/experience. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy Technology. Licensed by the State of Ohio through the Ohio Department of Health in Radiation Therapy. 2+ years of Radiation Therapy experience.




Ongoing: Meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions. Maintains registration and licensure through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Ohio Department of Health.
