The Department of Philosophy at the University of Miami invites applications for a full-time tenure-track or tenure eligible position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin August 15, 2025. Area of Specialization (AOS): Open, with a strong preference for Value Theory, broadly construed. Candidates working in more than one area are especially encouraged to apply. Area of Competence (AOC): Open. We seek a promising scholar who will pursue a vigorous research program, teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and take full part in the normal activities of the department.
Applicants should submit a full dossier-including a cover letter, CV, a research statement, a teaching statement, and a writing sample-via the UM Careers website. The dossier needs to be uploaded through the Resume/Cover Letter section of the online application. Please arrange for 3 - 4 letters of recommendation to be sent to philosophy@miami.edu. The candidate's name should appear in the subject line, and the recommendation should be attached to the email. A Ph.D. (or an equivalent terminal degree) in philosophy or closely related field is required by the time of the appointment start date. Priority will be given to applications received by November 1.
