Lipidomics Research Specialist

Provide specialized support for laboratory work focused on the in-depth analysis of lipids in food products, with a specific emphasis on lipidomics. This role involves performing advanced laboratory techniques to characterize the lipid structure and composition using analytical methods such as gas chromatography-flame ionization detection (GC-FID) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Primary responsibilities include sample preparation, processing, and analyses, data acquisition and interpretation, maintenance of analytical equipment, and the development, optimization, and validation of analytical protocols for lipid extraction, quantification, and characterization. The position requires a strong foundation in lipid chemistry, analytical methodologies, and data analysis.
Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Nutrition, Biochemistry or related field.Experience in lipid analysis (at least 1-2 years of hands-on experience in lipid extraction, derivatization, and chromatographic analysis).Proficiency in using analytical instruments used in lipid analysis (e.g., gas chromatography).Experience in research including experimental design, data analysis,Competency in maintaining lab equipment, adhering to lab protocols, and ensuring sample integrity and quality control.Familiarity with lab safety and handling of hazardous materials in accordance with regulatory standards.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in following protocols, documenting findings, and troubleshooting experiments.Ability to prepare research reports.Good verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently.
Masters degree or at least two to three years of related work experience preferred.
Familiarity with lipidomics techniques is a plus.Familiarity with statistical methods and experience in advanced data processing and analysis encouraged (e.g., use of SAS, JMP, R, GraphPad, Metaboanalyst).
$55,000 to $65,000
4 month probationary period is required.
