The University of Iowa is seeking a Laundry Production Worker to operate flatwork iron pressing machine, air finishers and shirt finishers to finish and/or fold cloth materials such as sheets, pillowcases, aprons, operating room linens, towels, shirts, etc. The University of Iowa offers a generous benefits package, which may be viewed at: https://hr.uiowa.edu/benefits.
This position is performed fully on campus.
Duties to include:
Feed linen items into production machines.
Stage linen items by placing in carts, recording linen counts, and packaging linen items.
Transport textiles to dock area.
Sort various linen by items.
Feed linen into folding equipment.
Fold different textiles.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Deliver clean, dry linen to applicable production locations.
Pick up work area.
Clean equipment.
Sweep, dust, wash work area.
Count incoming and outgoing linen.
Move objects more than 20 pounds.
Schedule Monday through Friday,6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

About Laundry Services:
The University of Iowa Laundry Service provides a wide range of laundry and linen support services for Campus. A large portion of the work accomplished at the Laundry Service is in support of the Healthcare and Health Sciences Colleges and Departments. The Laundry Service has been a service department at The University of Iowa since 1890. What began with washboards, wooden wash and rinse tubs, and clotheslines has become one of the most technologically advanced institutional laundries in the nation.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Desirable Qualifications:
Previous commercialized laundry experience.
Ability to demonstrate civil and respectful behaviors while working with a variety of individuals and groups.
Experience operating large laundry equipment.
Basic computer knowledge.
