POSITION SUMMARY
The EMS BLS Supervisor assists the EMS Assistant Manager with oversight of EMS operations for the EMS Department specifically the BLS division.
The EMS BLS Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the BLS division including scene management, vehicle readiness, initial QA of BLS charts, BLS clinical initiatives, and maintaining of BLS quarters.
The EMS BLS Supervisor is responsible for the provision of a high standard of emergency medical care to the citizens of Atlantic and Cape May County and surrounding areas. This position supports organizational goals by providing high quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
The EMS BLS Supervisor is a role model for desired company values, responsible for resolving customer service issues, operating within budgetary guidelines, identifying ways to best utilize system resources, maximizing performance through continual reassessment of EMS system needs.
The EMS BLS Supervisor is responsible for working with the clinical team and leading BLS orientation initiatives, communicating performance expectations, and providing feedback to staff on a consistent basis. The EMS BLS Supervisor will also assist with oversight of the EMS departments BLS FTO program. The EMS BLS Supervisor will assist the Assistant Manager with all aspects of BLS operational/clinical feedback.
The EMS BLS Supervisor is responsible for assisting the EMS BLS assistant Clinical Supervisor with the review of clinical/quality QA/QI for BLS, which will lead to interactions with staff, leadership and external agencies. The EMS BLS Supervisor will assist the EMS BLS assistant Clinical Supervisor with building and issue performance improvement plans alongside the Clinical Manager and Medical Director. The Clinical Supervisor will investigate all clinical concerns and bring those findings to the Clinical Manager and Medical Director.
The EMS BLS Supervisor is responsible for assisting with all operational tasks of the BLS division including working with the clinical team to plan the BLS sections of EMS competencies.
This position will ensure appropriate and coordinated use of educational and quality resources between AtlantiCare EMS Departments, other AtlantiCare departments and external agencies.
This position will work street shifts as required by EMS Leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Associate's degree in HealthCare, EMS, Business or related field degree preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified as an EMT or as a Paramedic by State of NJ required or Licensed as a RN. Current BLS, PEPP Certification required. Completion of the National Incident Command Courses, ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 required. FEMA Professional Development Series, ICS 300, 400 within 1 year. NJ EMD and Communications Officer within 6 months. Valid Driver's License required.
EXPERIENCE: 5-10 years' EMS work experience in a 9-1-1 system. Previous Supervisory Experience preferred. Effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required. Knowledge of all aspects of emergency policies and procedures and clinical applications required.

Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. This position requires pushing and pulling equipment up to 20 pounds and lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance.

This position reports to the EMS Assistant Manager - ALS.
