POSITION SUMMARY
The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician is responsible for the operation of all sterilization and cleaning equipment and completion of daily work assignments within the Sterile Processing department.
The Technician must be able to perform all duties and responsibilities as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician. The SPD technician is responsible to follow all established policies and procedures related to the proper pre-cleaning, cleaning, and preparation of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified Registered Central Service Technician, certification, recognized by NJ Department of Health required. Certified Instrument Specialist preferred.
Lead Technicians are responsible for maintaining CRCST and CIS certification yearly.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years experience within SPD/sterilization required. Basic computer skills required. Must be fluent in the English language. Based upon workload and staffing needs, must be available to work any shift as needed. Previous leadership experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Requires, extensive walking, standing and lifting. Requires the ability to push and or pull 40lbs or greater with good body mechanics.
