The Logistics Manager manages all inbound and outbound freight for North America. This includes leading and engaging employees on these teams to safely plan, move, and ship raw materials and finished goods on schedule, while driving continuous improvement in Safety, Customer Service, Efficiency, Throughput and Engagement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the Warehousing, Logistics & Distribution Leadership Team, participate in developing and executing supply strategy and goals for the VDF family of companies.
Manage the dry and frozen logistics teams.
Responsible for carrier identification, selection, negotiation, and management.
Establish goals, objectives and strategies covering all phases of North American logistics to contribute to an efficient, functional, operational, and profitable supply chain. Lead team to meet performance goals, regularly communicating expectations for performance.
Support team with transportation challenges, including prioritization of conflicting needs and follow-through of activities and projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressure.
Work with Director of Warehousing, Logistics & Distribution to develop operating budget and forecast with financial analyst support. Lead team to meet or exceed budgeted financial goals and to optimize supply chain performance and competitiveness.
Active participant in company's shipping schedules and inter-company movement, advocating for the best solution for both customer and Van Drunen Farms.
Develop strategies and improve the performance of current operations through the advancement of materials, techniques, and processes (e.g., logistics broker ways of working). Work with financial analysts to integrate a culture of continuous improvement.
Create an inviting environment for customers and act as customer service advocate.
Backup for Ambient and Frozen Warehouse Managers.
Establish a positive working environment, fostering a culture of growth and development.
Create, inspire, and maintain an environment for a safe and healthy workforce. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations and VDF policies and set expectations for continuous improvement.
Conducts duties in an environmentally responsible manner.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB EXPERIENCE :
7+ years' experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics management, or supply chain operations roles, including freight management
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Demonstrates strategic thinking and excellence in execution. Relentless about leading to continuously improve all aspects of supply chain operations.
Proven success in leading supply chain operations.
Established proficiency in financial, distribution/logistics, safety, and quality leadership and metrics.
Critical thinker with an ability to analyze complex decisions quantitatively and qualitatively.
Good working knowledge of transportation equipment, systems, and controls.
Strong leadership skills demonstrated by excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to the success and well-being of employees. Polished and professional image.
Willing and able to lead in emergency situations consistent with internal and 3PL operations.
A Proficiency in the MS Office Suite
ERP experience
EDUCATION:
Associate or bachelor's Degree for Supply Chain or similar degree preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
