The University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a full time Research Assistant 2 in the Public Health Sciences Department.
SUMMARY
The Senior Research Associate 2 (second level research position, track one) supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data and maintaining databases.
2. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
3. Participates in the publication of significant results.
4. Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research.
5. Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
6. Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
7. Stays abreast of developments in the field which may impact department functions.
8. Provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior research staff and students.
9. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions
The Senior Research Associate will support research activities at the University under the guidance of a principal investigator. This role involves performing specialized procedures for various research studies, contributing to both basic and applied research, and assisting with qualitative data collection, transcription, and coding.
The appointee will create audiovisual materials like videos and presentations to enhance project development and communication. They will also draft manuscripts, abstracts, and posters to showcase laboratory research achievements. While working under supervision, the appointee is expected to carry out research duties independently.
Responsibilities include maintaining necessary skills and completing mandatory training in safety and research ethics. The candidate will prepare monthly progress reports and an annual self-evaluation, adhering to departmental policies and safeguarding assets.
